The Chair
Matthew had a great time climbing in and out of Grammy's little chair. It is the chair she would climb in and out of when she was a little girl.

On the Road Again
We were in Atlanta this past weekend for Maxine's graduation. We stayed down in McDonough with Grammy. Matthew loved her cats, well, the little he saw of them. They preferred to stay in the basement away from him. He made sure they knew he was still there as he peered through the cat door and yelled byyyyeeee byyyeee. I still cannot understand why they wanted to stay in the basement. :)
Friday, we went to the Georgia Aquarium. Matthew had a great time! He really liked the beluga whales and said bye bye to them even after they were out of sight.
Saturday, we dropped Matthew off at Ellen and Jack's. Ellen and Jack were in the mountains so Caterina's babysitter,Ms Jean, kept him while we went to graduation and lunch. Maxine graduated with honors and received an award! We ate lunch with Maxine's entourage, picked Matthew up, then went to Maxine's for a short visit.
Here are some pictures from the weekend.

Fun Fun Fun
We had a great time in Kiawah! To fill you in on what we did I will just tell you Matthew's new vocabulary additions - "ahpeh" aka airplane, "bee" aka beach, "wawa" aka water, "Deet" aka Pete, "Ahm" aka Sam, "ahpuh" aka alligator (note: easily confused by adults as ahpeh), "buh" aka bike. We had so much fun riding bikes, playing on the beach, kissing Sam, following Pete, and looking for alligators that we forgot to take many pictures. I just got a few of Matthew and his cousins.

This is your chance
Tomorrow we are leaving for Kiawah Island, SC! Precious and Papa are taking the whole family on vacation! So this is your chance to break into our house and rob us. Of course you may have to tussle with Nam on your way out of the house!

Catching Up Once Again
Yard Work, Bathing in the Sink, and Fun on the Beach - that is what we have been up to.
Yard Work
The front yard is looking much better! Liriope is now in new locations, four beds are filled with plants, one bed is ready to be planted, and the lawn is tilled and ready for sod. Matthew has had a blast playing in the yard and flower beds. One day he had dirt clots in each hand. He looked up at me and said "yummm", and ate one of the dirt clots. And no, he did not spit it out. He swallowed it!
Bathing in Sink
We went to Destin last weekend to see Grandparents Mike and Joni. Matthew had the run of the place, and Mate let him play in his bird bath. The fun with the bird bath left Matthew wet, filthy, and happy as a lark! He desperately needed a bath so Mike and Joni made bath time incredibly entertaining when they bathed him in the kitchen sink. Matthew loved it!! We took pictures - scroll down to see them!
Fun on the Beach
Matthew had lots of beach time. He promptly started shoveling sand the moment Steve put him down. Shoveling sand was his favorite part of the beach experience, but he also had a ball walking around in the sand. He wasn't crazy about the water at first, but after Mate Mike, Uncle Glyn, and Daddy spent time with him at the shore, he finally was content with the water washing up on his feet. Of course we documented Matthew's first beach trip. Scroll down to see those pics too.

The Past Few Weeks
We have been busy little bees the last few weeks. Here is a summary:
- We went to Atlanta for Easter. Matthew didn't quite grasp the idea of hunting eggs, and he didn't really care about putting found eggs in his bucket (My aunt, Claudia, gave him a darling Easter bucket with his name on the side of it. Too bad it didn't get much use!)
- The week following Easter, Matthew burned two fingers on the oven. The next morning he was fine and didn't have blisters, but it still scared us. At least now he knows the meaning of hot.
- The next weekend we were in Birmingham for my cousin Hayes Kearbey's wedding. We loved hanging out with the Johnson side of the family!
- Matthew got the stomach bug this past week and is just now feeling better.
- I abandoned my sweet husband and left him with our sick child. The camp I attended for seven summers was sold in 1995 to a camp for children with special needs. The camp was recently on Extreme Makeover Home Edition. This past weekend I headed back to camp for a work weekend and Camp Soaring Hawk reunion. I raked leaves in the rain and helped host their open house. I was able to meet Camp Barnabas campers and counselors, and it was evident they experience the same unconditional love I did when I was at camp. God is still working wonders at our special camp.
Now what you all came here for:

Matthew played with this stick all day Easter Sunday.

Matthew and Pete had so much fun playing in the hotel rooms in Birmingham.

Mary Margaret, Ruth King Lewis, and I at Inspiration Point

Graffiti was allowed at Camp, especially in the Tack Barn. One of my favorite horses at Camp was Steve. Pretty ironic, huh?

Last Weekend Was So Much Fun!!
First of all, Uncle Glyn was in town! He took a detour through Clarksdale as he drove from Salina, KS to Atlanta, GA. Matthew adores him. After church Sunday we were chatting in the sanctuary, and Steve put Matthew down on the floor. Matthew promptly walked over to Uncle Glyn and put his arms up in the air signaling Uncle Glyn to pick him up. We all loved having him here.
Then Sunday night we totally lucked out on tickets to Willie Nelson. He played at Ground Zero. It was an unbelievable concert to say the least. We had a ball!
